A Chinese-inspired room, like in Beijing

A Chinese-inspired room, like in Beijing

The successive dynasties of China marked the decoration and the Chinese furniture of a very particular style, at the same time elegant, refined and sober. When we think of this style of decoration, we imagine both dark wood furniture, in natural materials such as bamboo, with sober and Zen lines and at the same time lacquered, shiny furniture, very elegantly decorated with using inlays and inlays of refined materials such as mother-of-pearl or enamel ... For a room that will remind you of a "Beijing" atmosphere, you will be playing on two fronts ... You will therefore need: - sufficiently dark wooden furniture like teak or mahogany for example. The bed and the bedside table will have typically Asian lines, those which undoubtedly make one think of Chinese pagodas. In addition to this sober and contemporary furniture, you can make the atmosphere more characteristic of China with an old dresser, lacquered and decorated. Do not use old furniture or you will get a decoration that is too busy, often unpleasant in a bedroom. Note, however, that the style of this elegantly crafted furniture goes very well with more modern furniture. - Regarding colors, opt for rather dark shades (teak furniture is perfect for that!) And you will rekindle the atmosphere with touches of bright red , typically Chinese. - In terms of materials, use smooth, satin and shiny fabrics in red and black! - You can add small decorative objects typical of China, without obviously falling into the "kitsch". A Chinese fan, calligraphy paintings on the wall, a few statuettes of Chinese deities will be enough to create a very characteristic Zen atmosphere. Also play with different light sources thanks to Chinese lanterns. Get inspired! Photos to inspire or to dream… Discover "Decorative photos"
